Category Archives: let’s party

having children has quickly made halloween one of my favourite times of year. any excuse for a celebration is a good one for me. one that includes crafting and sugar, even better.

if this post isn’t huge enough for you (ha!), you can see iphone photos on instagram (#monstersandspidersandghostsohmy). (thank goodness for the one photo of oscar with his “fire” in on ig because he boycotted it the rest of the week.)

costume prep was a little less stressful this year as most of the kids’ costumes (cupid, scuba diver, dragon and hot air balloon) were ones i had designed for my costume feature in better homes and gardens, the jet pack was a hand me down from a couple of years ago, and the spaceman was lila’s old ballerina robot costume with some modifications! (it was so fun to reimagine that one for cole this year.)

lila already has a few costume ideas up her sleeve for next year — i can’t wait!

spooky print is a digital download from hello tosha designs.
tutorials for the bhg costumes are available until november 3 here.

when oscar was about a month old, we had a little bbq to celebrate his arrival.

this is what it looked like.

it should be noted that it is never a bad idea to add crushed up oreos to your favourite white cake and/or buttercream recipe.

i spent saturday evening surrounded by some of my very favourite people, celebrating my upcoming birthday — because baby is due to arrive the day before i turn thirty (!), we thought it safest to get together a couple of weeks early — with splatter paint and awesome food. i’m so very thankful to have these ladies in my life, and so excited to see our group canvas all stretched and up on the wall 🙂

three months ago we celebrated lila and cole’s fifth and second birthdays with a sledding birthday party. it’s probably time i shared it 🙂

a few of my favourite bits: the custom watercolour portraits by kate klassen, the wooden flag bunting, the photos from the kids’ birthday session (i’ll post those soon too!), the “s’mores on a stick” (so yummy!), the build your own snowman kit party favours, the almost buffalo check cake (thanks to these pans), the hot chocolate station at the hill, the awesome time everyone had sledding despite the storm that came up just as we headed outside, and being surrounded by so many of our favourite people at the same time 🙂

it was a really good day.

this was the day (seven months ago) that lila turned four. it was a very good day.

(anything i missed, just ask!)

. . . . .

can’t believe we’re already over half way to five — slow down year!

five months ago, we had a super awesome day of friends and food and triangles and cake, and it was so great to share it with so many of our favourite people. when cole got crabby (as most one year olds do) birthday cake made everything better!

a big thank you to all of the lovely friends who picked up my camera or sent photos of the party happenings while i was busy partying 🙂 love you all.

it’s party season in pinksugarland (we had a little halloween bash yesterday and lila and cole will both be celebrating birthdays in the next month!) which seems like the perfect time for an awesome giveaway from the confetti and sparkle party shop!!!

cindy from confetti and sparkle is giving away a custom ‘party in a box’ to one lucky pinksugarland reader. one of you will take home a set of paper drinking straws, some treat bags, stickers and a 36″ balloon. yay!

three ways to enter (you will receive one entry for each comment):
1) head on over and like confetti and sparkle party shop facebook page
2) check out the website and let us know your favourite product
3) tell me something about a party coming up in your family!!

contest closes friday, november 2.

good luck!!

(the winner of the last giveaway will be announced shortly — with our travels over the last couple of weeks, and subsequently playing catch up since arriving home, the blog got pushed to the backburner for a the last little bit!)

congratulations beth!
